Another magnificent majolica Albarello jar from the Renaissance apothecary tradition. As always masterfully handpainted, the design is dived in two sections. On the top it portrays the image of Saint Roch, a Saint invoked against the plague at the time. The bottom is decorated with a scene depicting plagued people and animals while the Latin inscriptio reads 'ElLe Contra Pesta' meaning that jar was used to contain an ointment against the plague. A marvellous piece aimed at those passionate about collecting unique heritage majolica.
